  • Wave Community Bank is RadioReverb’s Station Sponsor

REVERBATHON is RadioReverb’s fundraiser which helps Brighton’s favourite radio station stay on air. It’s a live two-day broadcast and community event which will take place on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th September 2023.

Broadcasting live from the RadioReverb’s studio in Brighton’s Open Market on Saturday 16th September and the Hope & Ruin pub on Sunday 17th, the money raised by the event will contribute to the running of the radio station. This will enable it to remain playlist and advert free.
It’ll also celebrate the social landscape of Brighton and Hove as well as showcase the top talent that Brighton & Hove has to offer.

Each hour a different presenter will take to the airwaves with a special edition of their unique show. Other presenters, guests and musicians will be dropping in for short sessions and chats, creating a totally unique, one-off local radio experience. Presenters scheduled to appear include Sharon Duggall, Goatee Phil, Karen Morton, Paul Wilson, Melita Dennett, Richard Sheldrake, Pete Jones, Mark Johnson, Alan Wares and many more.

We’d love it if you dropped by to say hello, and hung around for some food and drink at both the Open Market and the Hope & Ruin.

All the money raised during the Reverbathon goes directly back into the running of the station, upgrading equipment and giving an opportunity to bring in new shows with local voices.

RadioReverb is the sound of your city and, with its team of home-grown broadcasters, delivers an entertaining and socially conscious schedule of programs for the Brighton and Hove community.

  • Come and join the RadioReverb team!

Be a part of the team at RadioReverb

RadioReverb is on the hunt for new team members to take us forward over the next 5 years!
We started in 2004 with a trial 2-week broadcast during the Brighton Festival, then gained a full-time FM licence in 2007. We’ve just been awarded a new licence to take us through to 2027 and we’re excited to see where we can go next.

Proudly local, we’ve got an enthusiastic team of around 60 volunteer producers, and more than 50 shows which cover a exciting range of speech and music content. So we’re looking for new team members to join our board to help take RadioReverb forward. You don’t need a background in radio but an interest in the power of radio is a big plus, along with knowledge of how volunteer-run groups operate, and an understanding of some of the many challenges we face!

We’re especially looking for dynamic hands-on people with skills in finance, fundraising, tech and strategic/ organisational planning, but other skills are welcome too!

We’d love to hear from you so please do get in touch for an informal chat. You can email us here

  • Emmaus Brighton & Hove are RadioReverb’s 2023 Charity of the Year

RadioReverb is delighted to announce that local homeless charity Emmaus Brighton & Hove as our Charity of the Year in 2023.

Each year we select a local good cause to support through the radio station and previous partners have been your music charity Audioactive, and Brighton Soup, which gives money to grassroots good causes across the city.

We had a record number of applicants this year and after a difficult choice we chose Emmaus as a great fit for its amazing work supporting people through challenging times, with a wealth of stories to be told. There are also numerous ways our listeners can support Emmaus’s work, through their café, shops and events over the course of the year.

    Emmaus’s Joel Lewis said

“What a great start to 2023 for Emmaus Brighton & Hove to be chosen as Radio Reverb’s Charity of the Year.”

“We are so happy to have this opportunity be featured on RadioReverb as their charity of the year during 2023”

We look forward to an exciting year ahead!

About our Charity of The Year scheme:

RadioReverb is Brighton’s grassroots local radio station, broadcasting on FM and DAB+ in the city and beyond, and globally via radioreverb.com

We have a dedicated listenership in excess of 40,000 people, and are committed to providing a platform to highlight the vast range of Brighton & Hove’s cultural, musical, social and community events and talent. We offer an important space for marginalised voices to be heard.

Each year we welcome applications from not-for-profit and charity organisations in Brighton & Hove, who would like to spread the impact of their message to more people with RadioReverb as their media partner.

  • AudioActive – RadioReverb’s 2021 Charity of the Year

  • On air at the ‘100 First Women Portraits’ Exhibition

RadioReverb International Women’s Day Live Broadcast

This year our all-female team broadcast live from the heart of Brighton & Hove’s International Women’s Day celebrations at Brighton Dome and Brighton Museum.

As part of our 13th Birthday weekend, we partnered with Brighton Museum & Art Gallery to tell the story of the pioneering women featured in the ‘100 First Women Portraits’, and built a studio in the Dome among the Brighton Women’s Centre’s programme of events.

Created by photographer Anita Corbin, the exhibition is the culmination of her 10-year personal mission to capture the portraits of modern female trailblazers.

Our team of all-women presenters & producers took the exhibition as their starting point, celebrating the extraordinary women featured. Taking the themes of women in literature; art; business; broadcasting; music; sports; and more, they asked how far the equality movement has come – and how far we still need to go.

    Listen:

Over the course of the day we interviewed the photographer behind the exhibition, as well as many of the women featured, including Dany Cotton, the first female commissioner of the London Fire Brigade; Sally Kettle, the first woman to row across the Atlantic; Professor Monique Simmonds, the first female Deputy Director of Science at Kew Botanical Gardens; and the first female stage and screen fight director Alison De Burgh.

We also showcased the many International Women’s Day events taking place on the day, as programmed by Brighton Women’s Centre. We interviewed pioneering local women, such as Caroline Lucas, the UK’s only Green MP, and broadcast a live speech by Mayor of Brighton & Hove Alexandra Phillips.

  • Statement on the death of Tracey Allen

The team at RadioReverb is shocked and saddened to learn of the death of Tracey Allen. For many years Tracey was a volunteer Director of RadioReverb and after her departure continued to support the station in many ways. Tracey was an active champion of the Brighton & Hove voluntary sector and established ‘Giving Times‘ to highlight its work. Our thoughts go out to her family and those closest to her at this very sad time. tracey
