Rock’s Rich Tapestry

Goatee Phil Presents Rock’s Rich Tapestry.

“We mean it, maaan!” So sang the Sex Pistols in 1977 and the phrase pretty much nails the main thing that I look for in music – passion. I’d much rather hear Ian Curtis’ barely in-tune baritone honk or one of Neil Young’s scruffy, anguished guitar solos than any number of catchy, glossy chart hits. The music I play will be passionate, honest and from the heart.

I’ve chosen the show title Rock’s Rich Tapestry for a reason. You’re likely to hear music of all different types, from every decade since the 50s – or maybe even earlier. A typical show might include some deep soul from the 70s, an alt-country band from the early noughties, a bit of Beefheart, some Joni Mitchell and a smattering of tracks from 2020. My aim is that listeners should never be more than two tracks away from saying “Damn! This is great. I should buy this album.”

New shows premiere at 6pm on the first and third Tuesday of the month,  first and third Saturdays at 11am and the second and fourth Thursdays at 11am. Catch up on past shows at the Listen Again page.
