Features - From Sat 11th OctoberLive BrightonAn interview with Nicola O'Brien from Live Brighton. Live Brighton is a chance to flaunt your own photos of the city and help build a giant collective album of classic and alternative Brighton – by the people and for the people. It’s a not-for profit bid with three objectives: to gather your unique shots taken in and around BN1, unite Brighton’s residents, and raise a little cash for a local and worthy cause. Photos you choose to submit can be amateur or professional, modern day or vintage, black and white or sepia. The subject can be anything you think typifies Brighton; from the shoreline, to the seagulls, to the parties at sunrise. It’s an effort to celebrate the area and also raise money for St Peter and St James Hospice - a charity-run concern near the South Downs that provides specialist care for people with progressive, life limiting illnesses from East and West Sussex.
Plus Blue Ventures - MadagascarAn interview with Becks Hill, about her project raising funds for a sexual health and family planning clinic in a remote area in Madagascar. below to hear this interview, in two An interview with Annette Mbedha about the Charity she set up in Brighton to support an education, health and anti poverty programme in the village she came from originally in Uganda. Buyemba Suubira Uganda Foundation (BSUF) is a Ugandan non-profit Organisation set up to help Butansi village and Butansi Sub County in Kamuli District in South-eastern Uganda. In the UK BSUF is working in partnership with Education Action International, a UK registered Charity with an international network that strives to build lives through education. BSUF is an educational, health, infrastructure and livelihood charity.
Founded in August 2005 by Annette Mbedha, BSUF stands as a tribute to her parents, Mr Nelson and Mrs Angella Buyemba who helped the poor in their home village. The foundation was formed in response to the increasing number of orphans, vulnerable children and widows in the village who had lost their parents and husbands to HIV/AIDS. The children and people of Butansi village and Butansi Sub-County in general still have ‘suubi’ - which means ‘hope’ in the local language - hence the Foundation’s name: Buyemba Suubira Uganda Foundation.
